After resolving differences among stakeholders, the national leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party has announced August 31, 2013 as the new date for the party’s special convention that is expected to produce its national officers.
The National chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, had ordered that the Convention Committee, headed by former Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, to halt preparations.
But inaugurating the committee on Wednesday, Alhaji Tukur assured that the new date will hold, announcing also that the South West congress will hold on August 24.
Speaking, the chairman of the Convention Committee, Prof Jerry Gana, assured party members that the committee will organize a transparent convention that would be acceptable to all.
Gana also directed all the 14 subcommittees earlier set up to submit their reports by next week Thursday, to hasten the work of the committee.
