The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC in Edo State has described Governor Adams Oshiomhole as a living legend of the labour movement in the country.
Chairman of the NLC in the State, Comrade Emmanuel Ademokun, who said this when chairmen and secretaries of the NLC in the 18 local government areas of Edo State paid a courtesy visit to the governor in Benin City, said Oshiomhole’s unparalleled achievements as President of the NLC and his developmental strides as governor has made him a living legend of the NLC.
“We have come to introduce to you the first set in the history of the state, newly constituted NLC chairmen and secretaries at the local government level and to recognise your monumental strides, which have made you the living legend of NLC movement,” he noted.
According to him, the state council of the NLC in an attempt to establish good governance constituted the local councils with chairmen and secretaries across the state.
Oshiomhole commended the NLC in the state for being able to organise themselves at the local government area level.
According to him, this will take the NLC closer to the people, with labour seen as the voice of the voiceless and voice of the economically oppressed.
“By organising the local government area, you are re-connecting with the local people and I hope you will be able to discharge your duties and provide responsible leadership for the union,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Edo State NLC will organise a rally on March 22 in honour of Oshiomhole in Benin.
