The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has described the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, as a simpleton for allowing himself to be misled on the true situation of the state of affairs of the party.
Okorocha, who vowed not to leave the APC, spoke with newsmen on Tuesday at the Government House in Owerri.
He equally said his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, remained the candidate for next year’s governorship election in the state.
Okorocha, who pledged his support for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari, said of Nwosu: “He is visionary, dutiful, hardworking and a proactive young man.
“He remains the best among all the candidates for the governorship election in the state.”
On his reported defection from the APC, Okorocha said: “I cannot be part of destroying the mansion I have helped in building.
“I totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the 2019 general elections.
Okorocha said Oshiomhole was misled by some people during the party’s primaries for the 2019 election, adding that the choice of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the state’s governorship candidate for the 2019 election was a political injustice to him and that he was not the choice of members of the APC.
He said those who misled Oshiomhole were disgruntled members of the party, adding that he still has his followers with him.
He said: “I still have my numerous supporters with me, but those who are naïve who want to leave and have left, I wish them good luck.
“This is because I cannot stop them.”
