African record holder and Nigeria’s sole flag bearer, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, on Sunday failed to make it to the Women 100m final at the ongoing 2017 World Championships in London.
Okagbare, with 11:08 seconds, finished fourth behind America’s Tori Bowie, Murielle Ahoure of Ivory Coast and Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye in the third heat.
It can be recalled that Okagbare placed sixth with a run of 11.04 seconds in the 100m final and also placed third in the 200m race in the 2013 edition of the Championships in Moscow.
She also won the silver medal in the long jump.
Her jump of 6.99m put her in second place behind Brittney Reese of the United States by only two centimetres.
