The Ogun State Police Command said it has begun investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of a commercial motorcyclist, Yakubu Ibrahim, in Odolowu, Ijebu-Ode axis of the state.
The Eagle Online learnt that Elder Adebanbo Adekoya from Igbo Owa Quarter in Ikoto-Imoru side of Ijebu-Ode reported this.
Adekoya, according to a Situation Report sighted by The Eagle Online, reported the incident to the Igbeba Police Division.
The SITREP said: “At about 0800hours on Wednesday, Adekoya reported at the station that some members of the community saw a dead body lying beside the road within the community and upon receipt of the information, a team of detectives raced to the scene.
“Upon close observation of the body, it was discovered that the deceased, who was an Okada rider, was killed by unknown thieves and the motorcycle was taken away.

“Photographs were taken and a knife suspected to have been used by the perpetrator was recovered as an exhibit from the scene of crime.”
When contacted, the Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
She noted that Sanni Abdullah, Hausa Chairman of Odolowo branch, Ijebu-Ode, came and identified the deceased as Yakubu Ibrahim, aged 30, from Zamfara State.
Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, disclosed that the body of the deceased was released to Abdullah for burial, in accordance with Islamic rite.
She however assured that efforts are in top gear to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime, adding that further development will be communicated to the public as it unfolds.
