Solomon Olasupo, the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Plateau Command, has urged the 1,003 newly promoted officers of the corps to discharge their duties proactively.
The commandant made the call on Wednesday in Jos during decoration of the promoted officers.
He said the promotion served as motivational gesture by the authority, which must be taken serious for higher responsibilities.
According to him, it is a known fact that to whom much is given, much is expected.
Olasupo urged the officers to be ready to perform to expectation.
He advised the promoted officers to desist from any form of corruption such as bribery and misuse of firearms.
He warned the officers against indolence and insubordination, saying officers should be hardworking and should encourage other officers.
The commandant implored those not promoted to work hard to earn promotion.
Some of the promoted officers told News Agency of Nigeria that they were happy and pledged their commitment to discharge their duties efficiently.
Fanims Nanjul, one of the promoted officers, said the promotion was a call on him to work harder and ensure that he made an impact by executing his duties efficiently.
Naomi Chishak, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, who was also promoted to the rank of a Superintendent, said the promotion was an indication of confidence the corps had in her.
She promised to do her best to ensure the job was done proactively.
