Cyril Olisema scored his first goal for Enyimba and reached double figures in Nigeria Professional Football League assists to inspire the eight-times champions to a 2-0 win over Adamawa United at the Pantami Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The classy Enyimba midfielder, despite failing to hit target in his first eight months with the People’s Elephant, bore little pressure going into the encounter played behind closed doors, having stood out as one of the team’s star men with scintillating displays that have set him as the highest provider in the division.
And for the second time in two matches, Stanley Dimgba was the beneficiary of Olisema’s genius when the red-hot forward received the latter’s through ball to blast into the roof with only one minute to the interval.
Theophilus Afelokhai stepped up with vital saves at different points in the second half as the hosts put up a fight, but the game was ultimately put beyond Ibrahim Bariki’s side when Olisema tapped in a rebound from Mbaoma’s effort with thirteen minutes left on the clock.
The win, Enyimba’s third on the road this term, has shut the record champions to fifth on the log with thirty-six points.
