Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC bounced back from last weekend’s defeat with a 3-0 emphatic win over visiting El-Kanemi Warriors in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 18 encounter played at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos State.
MFM FC made seven changes to the team that lost to Nasarawa United last Matchday and the boys lived up to expectations with a big win.
The fans were thrilled with good football and the Olukoya Boys claimed another home win.
The hosts wrapped up the game with three goals under 25 minutes in the first half, with Ogunye Austine, Olatunbosun Sikiru and NPFL leading top scorer, Stephen Odey, netting a goal each.
A fierce counter attacking move orchestrated by Onuwa Chukwuka in the 20th minute of the exciting match saw Ogunye scoring the homers first goal off a goal-mouth scramble.
Olatunbosun doubled the tally for the Olukoya Boys seven minutes after the opener with a left-footed strike after connecting a lovely pass from Austine, who was unarguably one of the best performers in the game.
The visitors put themselves together and dominated the game for few minutes.
They went forward in search of goal, but all their efforts were thwarted by the home team defenders, with Opara Austine, Monsuru Bashiru, Okorom Stanley and Julius Emiloju doing great defending.
El-Kanemi player, John Aguda, upended NPFL’s top scorer inside the box in the 44th minute of the exchange when he was about to latch on to a pass from Olatunbosun and the center referee pointed to the spot.
Odey stepped up and converted the spot kick.
The second 45 minutes didn’t see a lot of action from both teams.
MFM FC combined well with good passage of play, but the Borno State-based team defenders were resolute with their defending and made life difficult for the Olukoya Boys with timely tackles.
After 90 minutes, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his wards secured the maximum points. MFM FC are now back on top of the Nigerian topflight table with 33 points from 18 matchdays.
