The Nigeria Labour Congress has warned the Federal Government against the unilateral increase in the pump price of fuel across the country.
The NLC said it had observed in the last two months that government had done nothing to check the scarcity of fuel and was also watching marketers unilaterally increase the pump price.
In a statement on Thursday by its acting President, Joe Ajaero, and acting General Secretary, Olusegun Rotimi, the union said the government has failed to offer any cogent reason for the scarcity of petroleum products across the country in the last two months.
It said that in several stations across the country, prices of petrol, in particular, are higher than the official pump price without any control by government.
It said the Department of Petroleum Resources, under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, which is responsible for inspection and control of fuel stations, has not acted in anyway against the unilateral price increases by marketers.
The NLC therefore told the government to act urgently to check the development.
