Nigeria eyes Liverpool starlet, Jordan Ibe

Liverpool’s teenage sensation, Jordan Ibe, is wanted by Nigeria as they hope to persuade him to turn his back on playing internationally for England.
Ibe has caught the eye of many following his excellent recent displays for Liverpool after he was recalled from a loan spell at Championship side, Derby County, after an impressive spell in East Midlands.
Ibe was born in Bermondsey, South London and is expected to be called up by Gareth Southgate to the England U-21s having already represented the Three Lions at U-18, U-19 and U-20s level.
The 19-year-old is also eligible to play internationally for the Super Eagles through his father as he is from the African country.
The Nigerian Football Federation are trying their hardest to secure the services of Ibe after the country missed out on the African Cup Of Nations.
The winger has yet to commit his future internationally to either England or Nigeria.
Both nations will be looking to snap him up as he is set for a promising future in Merseyside.
However, Ibe could still switch allegiances and Nigerian officials plan to offer him a full international cap if he was to link up with them.
Victor Ikpeba, a member of Nigeria’s FA technical and development committee, said: “The federation is looking at Jordon Ibe.
“We need to change our philosophy and bring in these young players to help out, especially after we missed out of the Africa Cup of Nations.”
The winger has made seven appearances for the Reds and has also spent time out on loan at Birmingham after signing for them back in 2012 from League Two side, Wycombe Wanderers.
