Nigeria has the capacity to become the hub of Aviation activities in the West African sub region, given the number of international operators currently using its airspace and the high number of prospective ones.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation, Mr Yemi Adelakun, what the country needs is the commitment to fully drive the ongoing reforms in the sector which the Federal Government has demonstrated over time as part of its transformation agenda.
The Permanent Secretary who was on a facility visit to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, said with the uncompromising resolve of the Federal government to improve the situation in the aviation industry and the entrenchment of high standards for both local and international operations, Nigeria is sure to become more attractive to investors in the industry.
According to Adelakun, government was taking stock of the assets of the Ministry and its parastatals, especially landed properties in order to ensure the recovery of those that have found their ways into illegal ownership.
He also gave the assurance that no ongoing projects would be abandoned as that would be against the principles of the transformation agenda which all agencies of government are committed to upholding.
Among facilities inspected were the General Aviation Terminal, the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Unit, the newly installed Runway Solar Lighting System, the new Power House and the new Protocol Lounge.
