The Police Command in Niger on Wednesday said it recorded a zero crime rate during the just concluded Eid-El-Fitr festivities in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Dibal Yakadi, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna.
He said the feat was achieved through support from members of the public.
Yakadi assured residents of the state of the police readiness to sustain the peaceful coexistence among them and as well as prevent any form of threat to lives and property.
He said: “We have since put in place various security measures to sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the state.”
Yakadi urged them to go about their lawful business without fear of molestation and to promptly report security breach to the nearest security agents.
He said it was necessary for law abiding residents to support the police with vital information to enable them apprehend the criminal elements in the society.
Yakadi said: “We will continue to put in place various security measures that will pave way for the arrest and prosecution of criminals in the society.”
