The Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari will receive the report of the ongoing forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission next month.

Akpabio indicated this while responding to questions from State House Correspondents after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, at the State House.

He maintained that the exercise was begun not just to clean up the mess in the NNDC, but to reposition the commission and ensure optimal performance and that much progress on the forensic audit has been made.

The Minister further declared that Nigeria cannot afford a crisis in the South South as recorded in other regions of the country because of its importance to the economic survival of the nation.

Akpabio equally noted that he has been meeting with stakeholders in the region as a way of calming tension.

He recommended that political leaders from other crisis-prone regions do same to curb restiveness.
