The Nigerian Bar Association has condemned the suspension of a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers State, Worgu Boms, by its Port-Harcourt, Rivers State branch.
Boms served in the administration of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
The NBA, through its President, Augustine Alegeh (SAN), gave the condemnation at the meeting of members of its National Executive Committee in Sokoto, Sokoto State.
Alegeh said it was wrong to have declared Boms a “person-grata”.
The address of Alegeh at the meeting, which received a standing ovation, said: “We are surprised that the Port-Harcourt Branch has suspended a member of the branch and declared him as person non-grata without informing NEC.”
While coming hard on the Dennis Okwamkpan-led Port-Harcourt Branch of the NBA, Alegeh added: “We also do not think these actions are proper and we condemn them in the strongest terms.”
