Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, in Abuja on Wednesday renamed a newly inaugurated leisure facility after the late Dame Remi Oyo, a former Managing Director of NAN.
He said this while inaugurating the facility, a development project initiated by Fortune Abang, Editor Assistant/Chief Correspondent.
According to Ali, the management is committed to the physical and mental well-being of NAN staff.
He said: “This initiative demonstrates tenacity and an enterprising nature.
“It’s a collective effort, involving both management and staff, all working together to take the agency to the next level.

“I had the pleasure of knowing Remi Oyo well, perhaps even better than some of you.
“We served together on the executive council of the Guild of Editors, where she was my president and I was a member of her executive committee.
“Given our history, I wasn’t surprised by the lasting impact she had.
“In recognition of her contributions, we’ve decided to rename this facility Remi Oyo Park.
“Our goal is to remember and build upon the successes of our past, while also honouring those who came before us.
“We aim to reposition the agency as a leading news content provider, maintaining its preeminent position.”
Ali emphasised the importance of promoting a work-life balance, enhancing physical and mental well-being, and encouraging professionalism and collaboration in the workplace.
He said: “To achieve this, we have introduced twice-weekly exercise sessions in the gym and will host our first End of Year picnic on December 10, 2024.
“These initiatives aim to unwind, relax, build teamwork, and bring creativity to advance the agency’s growth.”
