My signature was forged in document affirming Sheriff as PDP boss – Niger chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State has disowned the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the party.
The party said in a statement made available to newsmen in Minna on Sunday that it was not part of the meeting held in Abuja last week where Sheriff was endorsed as the national chairman of the party.
The statement signed by Alhaji Tanko Beji, the State Chairman, who was reported as one of the 26 state chapter chairmen at the meeting, said he was not at the meeting and could not have signed any document affirming Sheriff as the national chairman of the party.
Beji said: “I wish to state that I am not aware of the said meeting and was not in attendance at same.
“The signature against my name is equally not mine.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I remain committed to the National Caretaker Committee of the party and I am in support of the appeal at the Supreme Court.”
Tanko Beji therefore advised “our teeming supporters across the state and Nigeria” to disregard the publication.
