Minister promises corps members improved welfare, health insurance package

Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has assured the Batch ‘B’ Stream II, Corps Members currently serving in the Federal Capital Territory of improved welfare and health insurance package
Dare said this in a statement signed by Olatunji John, Public Relations Department of the ministry.
He made the pledge when he paid a working visit to the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, in Kubwa, Abuja.
The minister assured the corps members that the Federal Government would facilitate an adequate health insurance scheme, as well as ensure improved welfare for them nationwide.
Dare disclosed that he was among the first batch of corps members that opened the FCT Orientation Camp 28 years ago.
He congratulated the corps members on the opportunity to serve Nigeria for the next one year.
He further encouraged them to apply the knowledge they acquired throughout their academic pursuit to surmount challenges they might encounter during the service year.
Dare commended officials of the camp for ensuring that the corps members were adequately catered for.
He acknowledged the fact that youths were the engine room of Nigeria’s developmental ship, with more than 65 million of the country’s almost 200 million population.
The minister prayed for open doors for the corps members on completion of their service year.
The State Coordinator, NYSC FCT, Walida Isa, noted that the camp was officially opened by the Minister of FCT, Mohammed Bello on August 22.
Isa said 1,804 corps members, made up of 889 males and 915 females, were currently participating in various camp activities.
She expressed confidence over the corps members’ ability to show high level of commitment; due diligence and loyalty to Nigeria as they passed out from orientation to go on their primary assignments.
The coordinator commended the minister for his interest in NYSC projects, while emphasising the willingness of the camp officials to give the corps members the right orientation needed to build the country.
