The military and the police on Sunday gave conflicting figures of the casualty figure of the explosion that rocked a beer parlour cum football viewing centre.
While the military gave the number of dead as 18, the police said it was 14.
For those who were injured, the military put the number at 19, while the police said it was 12.
The Adamawa Police Command gave the figure for the police while the spokesman of the Defence Headquarters, Major General Chris Olukolade, released the military’s figure in a statement.
But independent sources put the number of dead from the explosion at not less than 60.
The spokesman of the Adamawa State police Command, DSP Usman Abubakar, confirmed the incident .
Meanwhile, Olukolade said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the explosion.
He, however, said one of them later died in the hospital following injury he sustained during the attack.
A resident of the town, who simply identified himself as Solomon, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the explosion occurred in Kabang area of the town in Mubi South Local Government Area.
Solomon said: “The explosion occurred at about 6pm in Kabang area, where there is concentration of beer palour operators.
“Security personnel are taking affected people to hospital.
“| can’t say whether there is death or not.”
Following the development, the military has imposed a 7pm to 5am curfew on the town.
