Mark, Aregbesola condemn Kano bombing

The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has condemned in very strong terms the bombing in Kano, Kano State that claimed scores of lives and properties.
Mark frowned at the renewed violence at a time Nigerians were heaving sigh of relief that the killings, largely perpetrated by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, seemed to be subsiding.
He said: “This act is condemnable. It is inhuman and barbaric. This is certainly not part of our culture. This is alien. It is forbidden. We cannot live like this. Something serious has gone wrong in the land. We must do well by returning to the basics.
“No matter the level of anger in a man’s mind, taking the life of another cannot be a solution. All of us across the divide must join hands to end this carnage in our land.”
Mark reiterated that there exists a number of channels for aggrieved people or groups to express their feelings without resort to killings and destruction of properties, reminding Nigerians to cultivate the time tested attributes of being our brothers’ keeper at all times.
According to Mark, the issue is beyond leaving the matter in the hands of security operatives, as everybody must join in the vanguard of protecting our communities.
He sympathized with victims of the bomb blast and prayed the Almighty God to heal Nigeria.

In a related development, the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has described Monday’s bomb attack at the Sabon-Gari area of Kano as heartless, inhuman and barbaric.
This was just as Aregbesola urged security agents and government to do more to ensure the safety of lives and property of Nigerians and foreigners in the country.
The governor, in a statement by the Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Semiu Okanlawon, said the mindless killing of defenceless citizens represented an act against humanity and God.
He held that under no reason whatsoever should anyone or group take the lives of fellow human beings.
According to him: “Under no reason whatsoever should any human take the life of another, no amount of anger or intimidation should make one spill the blood of another human being.
“It saddens when these barbaric and heartless people are described as fighting in the cause of any religion. Islam doesn’t support suicide bombing, Islam is a religion of peace. Islam does not encourage compulsion in religion. Qur’an 5:32 says if any one slew a person,it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.”
