The man who was with Ibadan, Oyo State-based businesswoman, Adeshina Olayinka, overnight at Wetland Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, before her death has surrendered himself to the police, The PUNCH is reporting.
The Eagle Online recalls that Olayinka, popularly known as Khadi on Instagram, was found dead after the man checked out.
That was in the afternoon of Thursday, with the duo having spent the night together in the hotel.
Following the death of Olayinka, the yet-to-be-identified man was said to have presented himself to the Oyo State Police Command at Akobo Police Station, where the businesswoman’s death was incidented.
According to The PUNCH, the man has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The PUNCH quoted a member of staff who sought anonymity following the absence of the Manager and Supervisor of the hotel as having said: “We wouldn’t have known until 12 noon check out time if not for the power bank that one of the receptionists lent her.
“So, when we discovered that she was still breathing, we quickly called police at Akobo Police Station but unfortunately, she died before getting to the hospital.
“So, we called the suspect to inform him about the incident.
“He was shocked and rushed down to the hotel to present himself to the police.
“The case has been transferred to the state CID.
“Actually, he is one of our customers here.
“He always patronises us.
“And when he came around (before he presented himself to the police), he said the lady was complaining that night that she was weak.
“And that was why he just allowed her to rest.”
The spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, said: “Investigation is in progress.
“Updates would be provided accordingly, please.”
