The League Management Company on Thursday announced that the Nigeria Professional Football League final match day is now November 16.
The last games of the NPFL were originally fixed for November 9.
However, the LMC announced via its social media platform that the final matches have been shifted by one week.
The LMC explained: “This adjustment is to allow for whatever petition may arise from the clubs.
“However, all petitions close on November 7.”
Although Kano Pillars have won the league for the third time in a row, there is still a hot contest between teams eyeing continental places.
Also, at the drop zone, one more team is expected to join the relegated trio of Nembe City, Kaduna United and Crown FC.
Warri Wolves are among the teams jostling for continental spots and have threatened to snub their last league game against Nasarawa United if the Lafia-based side failed to honour their game against Giwa FC.
Nassarawa United walked over Giwa FC after the Jos-based side failed to show up twice for the rescheduled game in Abuja.
This was after crowd trouble in Giwa’s last match at their traditional home ground in Jos against Sharks, which got them banished to Abuja.
The LMC had on Wednesday directed the two clubs to replay the game on Thursday.
However, Nasarawa FC failed to honour the match at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja.
Isaac Danladi, the Chairman of Nasarawa United FC, said his club had written a protest letter over the decision to replay the match.
Danladi said he received two letters from LMC.
He said: “One of the letters said we had been awarded three points and three goals for the match, while the second letter said we will replay the match on Thursday.”
