In the latest exercise of Summary Jurisdiction, Niger Tornadoes and two of the club officials have been sanctioned just as the LMC has requested the Nigeria Referees Appointment Committee to review the performance of the Centre Referee in the MatchDay 5 fixture between Niger Tornadoes and Rivers United.

FC IfeanyiUbah was cited for contravening Rules B8.21 and B13.52 of the Framework and Rules for their failure to provide adequate security for match officials when the Referee was assaulted in his hotel room after the match against Sunshine Stars on Match Day 25

In his opening remarks, Dikko said the purpose of the visit was to partner with the Securities Exchange firm and leverage on its network within corporate Nigeria to create awareness for the inherent commercial and social investment opportunities in the football industry

The Chairman of the LMC, Mallam Shehu Dikko, in reaction to recurring reports of clubs threatening or issuing ultimatums and threat of sack and deduction of salaries of their players and technical crew, urged the various clubs’ management to seek better creative ways of motivating their players and coaches rather than resorting to strong arm and punitive tactics that run counter to extant regulations guiding players’ contract and wages

Dikko said: “You may wish to recall that we started the league with blanket provisional waiver to the clubs to allow them comply with all registration requirements before Match Day 9 when a review will be conducted by the LMC. The break period is also a time to revisit club stadium facilities to remedy observed defects as the clubs have so far operated with provisional certificates

A statement from the office of the Chairman of the LMC disclosed that towards supporting the clubs and the two junior national teams that are billed to play in continental tournaments to excel in their respective competitions, the LMC would be remitting N2 million to each of the teams as players’ bonus to facilitate their preparations and encourage the players to give their best
