The Ibom 2025 District 404A2 Convention of the Lions Club is gearing up to make a significant impact in Akwa Ibom State with a series of humanitarian initiatives aimed at uplifting the lives of vulnerable children and supporting community development.
This was disclosed by Lion leaders at a news conference on Thursday at the Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation in Uyo.
Lions leaders mentioned the convention’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and communities across the state.
The District Governor, Lion Maurice Ibok, shared that the convention will kick off with a community feeding programme for children under five years old, to be held at Uruan Street Modern School.
“This is part of our mission to provide nutritional meals to children who need it most,” Ibok said, stressing that the Lions’ efforts extend far beyond the convention itself.
It was gathered that in addition to the feeding programme, the Lions Club will officially launch a new initiative aimed at supporting street children.

The University of Calabar has approved the creation of a skills acquisition centre for street children, providing them with opportunities for education and vocational training.
“This project will be housed within the university for long-term sustainability,” said Ibok, emphasising that it is a strategic move to ensure the project’s success.
The event will also feature several exciting activities, including a parade, a polka dot party, training sessions for Lions on guiding principles and grant administration, and a lecture on humanitarian intervention to be delivered by a professor from the University of Uyo.
Lion Ibok stated the core values of the Lions Club as its acronym L-Liberty, I-Intelligence, Power, mission, and Safety, underscoring their collective dedication to serving humanity.
“Our motto reflects who we are, Loving Individuals Offering Needed Services,” he added, urging more people to join their ranks and make a positive impact.
Lion Ezekiel Umoh, First Deputy Governor of District 404A2, spoke about the importance of collaboration, calling on AKBC management to support Pastor Imaobong Udo, the Acting Director General, in making quality decisions for the convention’s success.
Pastor Udo welcomed the Lions to Akwa Ibom, acknowledging their efforts to foster gender inclusivity within the organisation.
She assured the Lions that AKBC would fully support the dissemination of information about their humanitarian activities throughout the convention, helping to amplify their impact.
With an agenda packed with meaningful projects and events, the Lions Club District 404A2 Convention is set to leave a lasting mark on Akwa Ibom State, contributing to the ongoing effort to support children, empower communities, and promote a culture of service across Nigeria.
