The “visible crack” within the ruling All Progressives Congress presents an ample opportunity to rebuild the Peoples Democratic Party, the Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Haliru Bello, has said.
Speaking with members of the PDP from Kebbi State, who visited him in Abuja on Monday, Bello said there should be concerted efforts towards wooing PDP members who had joined the APC back to the party.
The APC leadership had after mock primaries announced Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as its choice for the Senate presidency and Speakership.
But some senators and Reps members rebelled and connived with the PDP to elect Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker respectively.
Political pundits believe there is already a working alliance between some APC members and the PDP.
The PDP BOT chairman believes members should take advantage of this to rebuild the party.
While admitting that the party had made mistakes while in power for 16 years, Bello posited that the PDP must be returned to the people.
He therefore, urged members across the country to reconcile with the founding members in the their states so that they can use the principles with which they built the party in the beginning to now rebuild it ahead of the 2019 general elections.
