Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has approved the appointment of Martins Shaldas, a retired director with the state’s civil service commission, as the Long Goemai of Shendam.
Shaldas is to succeed his elder brother, Hubert Shaldas, who died a year ago.
A statement by Rufus Bature, the Secretary to the State Government, said the appointment followed Shaldas’ emergence as the choice of the area’s traditional kingmakers, in an election on Monday
The statement quoted Lalong as congratulating the new monarch, while urging him to see the appointment as a challenge to serve.
