The Lagos State Government has shut Chrisland School over the death of a 12-year-old student during the school’s inter-house sport at Agege Stadium.
Whitney Adeniran, a student of Chrisland Schools in Opebi, died during the inter-house sport held on February 9.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, announced the closure of the school to pave the way for unfettered investigation of Adeniran’s death.
Adefisayo, who said she has reached out to the father of Adeniran, Michael, commiserated with the family of the deceased.
She added in the statement: “On behalf of the State Ministry of Education, we commiserate with Mr and Mrs Adeyemi, parents of Whitney, over the death of their daughter.
“We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends and acquaintances of Whitney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident
“We pray for the repose of her soul.”
