The Lagos State Government has put together five weeks intensive science vacation course for secondary school students in the state during the long vacation period, the state Commissioner for Education, Olayinka Oladunjoye, has disclosed.
Oladunjoye explained that the course, which will be held in 217 centres across the six Education Districts of the state from August 4 to September 5, 2014, is aimed at channelling the energies of students into productive ventures during the long vacation period, improve their skills and performances in sciences as well as sustain their interests in science subjects.
The Commissioner pointed out that Senior Secondary School Students will be tutored in Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Computer Studies/ICT, Biology, English Language, Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics, while Junior Secondary School Students will be taught in Agricultural Science, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Computer Studies/ICT, English language and Mathematics.
She enjoined parents and guardians to take advantage of the opportunity and enrol their children/wards at all of the designated centres in the six Education Districts in the state.
