The National Chairman of Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, Comrade Kiri Mohammed, has charged civil servants in Oyo State to embrace peace and give room for dialogue with the state government over the minimum wage issue.
Mohammed gave the charge while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a meeting with Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Ibadan.
The labour leader, who was in Ibadan to mediate in the minimum wage face-off, which has been a subject of controversy between civil servants and the government, said that each state has the choice of adopting any payment table that was most affordable to it.
Mohammed said that his council would not protect or defend any fraudulent or violent worker, just as he added that no innocent and committed worker would be allowed to suffer.
He said that the crisis between the workers and the state government on the implementation of an acceptable minimum wage table would soon be amicably resolved.
According to him, labour and state government have agreed to resume negotiation in the interest of industrial peace and harmony, stressing that both parties would be guided by the principle of give and take to enhance a hitch-free negotiation.
Mohammed said that the issue of the total income accruable to the state as well as the staff strength in the state would be revisited at the negotiation table.
