The Kwara State Government has restated its commitment to providing sporting facilities to enable the youth discover and nurture their talents.
The State’s Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira, stated this in Ilorin while receiving trophies won by the State Baseball and Softball Teams at the just concluded National Under-15 Championship held in Lagos.
Elder Kisira called on individuals and corporate organisations to support government’s efforts in the development of sports through sponsorship of athletes and sporting events.
The Deputy Governor said the State Government would continue to play its role effectively to support the development of sports.
He called on the people to embrace sport in view of its importance and health implication.
Elder Kisira commended the two teams for their resounding victory and doing the State proud at the championship that was attended by seven States across the country.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the State’s Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Elder Ayobola Samuel, had said the State came first in the female category beating the host state, Lagos, while their male counterpart lost to Rivers State to clinch the second position.
