Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has described as painful and shocking the death of the State Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Prince Yemi Afolayan.
This was contained in a condolence message signed on the Governor’s behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba.
Governor Ahmed said Prince Afolayan’s passage was at a time his political experience and commitment to deepening of democratic culture in the State were highly needed.
Dr Ahmed recalled that Prince Afolayan as Political Adviser to Governor Abubakar Bukola Saraki, a member of Kwara State House of Assembly, former State Secretary of People Democratic Party in Kwara State and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress contributed immensely to good governance, peace and tranquility in the State.
Similarly, Governor Ahmed, who said the death of Prince Afolayan has left a big vacuum in the political landscape of the state, described the death of Mrs Funmi Adebayo, the wife of a former Governor of Kwara State, Chief Corlenius Adebayo as a great loss not only to the former first family but Kwara State at large.
According to Governor Ahmed Mrs Adebayo contributions to the state as wife of a Governor and in other spheres of life were undoubtedly indelible marks in the sand of time.
The Governor prayed God to grant the families of the deceased the fortitude to cope with the loss and grant both Afolayan and Mrs Adebayo eternal rest.
