Former Germany coach, Juergen Klinsmann, believes his son, Jonathan Klisnsmann, has the class to become a first-choice goalkeeper in the next days.
The 21-year-old Jonathan Klinsmann is number three between the posts at Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin.
He has featured only once for them and his contract expires in summer, with his father saying in Wednesday’s Sport Bild weekly that clubs should give young goalkeepers a chance.
“Jonathan has the class to become number one in the Bundesliga or second division next season,” the older Klinsmann, who was a top-notch striker in his playing days, said.
But the club also have the courage to give a young goalkeeper this chance.
This is just as Everton did with England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Mainz with Florian Mueller and SV Hamburg with Julian Pollersbeck.
Klinsmann said: “He has become a man in 18 months under Hertha Berlin goalkeeper coach, Zsolt Petry. Jonathan is getting closer to Rune hastein and Thomas Kraft.
“It is his aim to become number one in Berlin. But he must challenge the two others even more every single day.”
