The leadership of the Jos Hausa Community in Plateau State has called on the state Commissioner of Information and Communications, Malam Nazif Ahmad, to work assiduously to promote peace and progress of the state.
This appeal was contained in a press statement issued over the weekend to congratulate the commissioner and also appreciate Governor Simon Lalong over the historical appointment of their sons.
The statement, which was signed by Alhaji Sani Mu’azu, the group’s Secretary, said the appointment was a testimony of the positive changes that are happening in state and “a mark of confidence from the Governor, Barrister Simon Bako Lalong.
“As you assume office as a Commissioner we appeal to you to give your new appointment the seriousness it deserves and work assiduously in the promotion of peace and progress in the state.”
The community tasked the commissioner to be fully committed to the service of the state and to “live as a statesman above parochial interest”.
It also admonished Ahmad to be a worthy ambassador of his people and “to establish the fact that our community is ever ready and committed to serve our state… to its growth and development.”
The community appreciated Governor Simon Lalong over the appointment of three of their sons as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government House, Secretary of Jos North Local Government Council management committee and Commissioner of Information and Communications, Barrister Yusuf Gambo Hawaja, Alhaji Shehu Bala Usman and Ahmad respectively.
It said: “These appointments are testimony of the Governor’s efforts to foster greater understanding, peace, cooperation and inclusiveness among different communities in Plateau state.”
