It is a peaceful atmosphere in Otuoke community, President Goodluck Jonathan’s hometown, as he has been accredited for the Bayelsa State gubernatorial election.
As early as 8.15am, electoral officials arrived Otazi Playground, Polling Unit 039 in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area.
At 8.40am, the returning officer, a corps member, announced commencement of accreditation, which he said would end by 11.30 to pave way for voting to start by 12pm.
Jonathan, with his wife, Patience and mother, Eunice, arrived at the polling unit at 10.05 for accreditation, which lasted barely four minutes.
There is heavy security presence in Otuoke community apparently because of the President.
A combined team of military and riot policemen are stationed at strategic areas in the community.
The President is expected to return to the polling unit at 12pm to vote.
