Jesus completes City move

Manchester City has completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras.
The 19-year-old agreed a five-year deal to join Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer but remained with Palmeiras until the end of the season.
He arrived in Manchester earlier this month but was awaiting clearance before finalising his move to the Etihad Stadium.
Having completed all the relevant paperwork, the Brazili international will be available for selection.
“I want to win titles and Manchester City is a club that is used to winning,” he told the club’s official website.
“City is a Club that always competes for the title in the competitions it enters, so that was an important factor, and because of the manager, Guardiola, and the squad.”
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, welcomed Jesus to the club, stating: “Gabriel is a technically gifted player who was chased by some of Europe’s biggest clubs and we are delighted he decided to join City.
“He has the potential to become one of the best attacking players in the game and we look forward to watching him develop further here in Manchester.
“I think with Pep Guardiola as manager and the squad we already have here, Jesus has the perfect platform to reach his full potential.”
Jesus joined Palmeiras in 2013 and after scoring 54 goals in 48 matches for the club’s academy, he made his senior debut in March 2015.
He joins City fresh from helping Palmeiras win their first Brazilian league title since 1994.
