Barely 24 hours to the exit of the present government in Plateau State, there is palpable trouble between the outgoing commissioners and Governor Jonah Jang.
The bone of contention is finance.
The outgoing commissioners are angry Jang has refused to pay them their entitlements.
Information reaching The Eagle Online has it that the commissioners, other aides and staff of the ministries who had for some time now gone
into hiding suddenly reappeared, expecting the government to settle them. Some contractors who were also spotted spending nights in the house of
the Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Davou Mang, went on rampage to demonstrate their grievances.
The contractors refused to vacate Mang’s residence.
They to lock Jang out during a dinner celebration scheduled for 7pm to usher in the new government.
It was alleged that all the staff of the Plateau State Government were left in the cold without any parting gift, which has become a
tradition in the history of the state. Jang brought the activities of his administration to an end with the
commissioning of a N7.9 billion new Government House at little Rayfield.
He also named Lamingo Road after former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Jang stated on Wednesday at the commissioning ceremony of the multi billion naira edifice, which was equipped to international standard,
that the state will never remain the same inspite of the outside conspiracy against the people.
He said: “We have to move forward. “Nobody can change the history of Plateau State except God.”
