Aspirants seeking elective positions for various seats in Plateau State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday converged on the state secretariat of the party for screening.
Those screened included Governor Jonah Jang, retired General Jeremiah =Useni, Emmanuel Go’ar and Beni Lar.
All the aspirants reeled out their manifestoes.
On her part, the member representing Langtang North and South in the House of Representatives, Hon. Lar, vowed that she will contribute ideas to the Nigerian legislature to bring to an end to the circle of insurgency in the country.
She briefed journalists shortly after being screened.
Lar expressed worries over the activities of Boko Haram in the country, saying: “We have seen many Nigerians who are internally displaced and I assure you that we shall resume plenary session tomorrow to proffer solution to the killing.”
Lar expressed worry over the ongoing voters registration, saying there were clear evidences that many people were not captured in the exercise.
She appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the extension of the exercise to enable more Nigerians to be captured for participation in the forthcoming elections.
She commended the PDP for allowing everybody to participate in the screening exercise without denying anyone.
Lar said there is confidence in the screening committee because they are men of high integrity .
She said: “I believe the PDP leadership made the right choice of men with good credentials.”
Meanwhile the Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, who is also seeking Lar’s seat, said the incumbent cannot intimidate her with her credentials.
The Chairman of the screening committee, Prof. Patrick Ndubuisu, has expressed his determination to discharge his function effectively without any bias or interest.
Ndubuisi noted that considering the challenges in the exercise, they will strictly follow the party guidelines that was handed over to them.
Ndubuisu promised to be fair to all aspirants in Plateau State.
The five members of the committee are Ndubuisu, Secretary Sani Yakubu Kirfi, Hassan Mohammed Ngur, Grant Orugbani and Benjamin Ayuba Kagara.
