Jammeh dissolves cabinet, asks for extension of deadline to quit

Yahya Jammeh has asked for an extension of the deadline given to him to quit the State House in The Gambia.
This followed a meeting between Jammeh and the presidents of Mauritania and Guinea on Friday.
Also on Friday, Jammeh dissolved his already depleted cabinet.
Six of the ministers resigned in the last one week.
The Mauritanian and Guinean presidents arrived in Gambia early on Friday to persuade Jammeh to quit as forces of the Economic Community of West African States halted their move to oust him forcefully.
Most members of the Gambian Armed Forces have also surrendered to the ECOWAS forces, according to reports, with some saying that the Chief of Defence Staff has pledged support for the regional bloc’s troops.
