Alex Iwobi has reportedly agreed to put pen to paper on a new five-year deal at Arsenal after enjoying a fine first-team breakthrough in recent weeks.
Iwobi made his debut for the Gunners in the Capital One Cup round-of-16 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in October, but has recently emerged as a major star for the club having starred at the Nou Camp in March, and scoring goals on both of his first starts in the Premier League, against Everton and Watford.
According to the Daily Mirror, such promising performances have earned Iwobi a new contract.
“The Gunners have handed the exciting teenage forward a five-year contract worth in the region of £30,000 a week,” the papers writes of Iwobi, who is currently earning no more than £10,000 on a three-year deal.
But the 19-year-old’s sudden impact has persuaded Arsene Wenger to improve his terms and offer him a longer deal.
Wenger is also confident that club stalwarts Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will extend their contracts soon, with both expiring in 2018.
