The Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, on Monday re-emphasised the need for Nigerians to be more security conscious in the face of security challenges facing the country.
Aliyu insisted that if Nigerians give information to the relevant government agencies, the attacks on innocent people by the Boko Haram will be checked before they are perpetrated.
Aliyu spoke at the Government House, Minna when he received the Emir of Borgu, Senator Haliru Dantoro, who was on a thank you visit to the governor for the three-day inspection of his Emirate as well as the newly-elected North Central Zone executive of the Mayetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, led by the Chairman, Alhaji Sani Zuni.
Governor Aliyu decried the callous manner the Boko Haram sect members have been killing innocent people and inflicting damages on properties.
He said it was time their nefarious activities were brought to an end.
He told the Mayetti Allah members, who are mostly nomads, to assist the government by offering information on the activities of strange people who might be infiltrating the country through the borders.
He assured the Association that government will assist it to construct a zonal and state office in Minna before setting up a cabinet committee to advice the administration on how to establish an international cattle market in the state.
The cabinet committee consists of the Commissioners for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Special duties and Gender Affairs including the Director General Nomadic Affairs.
Governor Aliyu in reaction to the complaints by the Emir of Borgu about lack of electricity in New Bussa and environs for three months as a result of breakdown of vital components of the Kainji Hydro Electric Dam, promised to look into the issue with immediate effect.
He said the administration will construct the Lunma-Rofyan-Agwara Road and commence the construction of a bridge across River Niger at Agwara.
After commending the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Agwara Local Government Area for touching the lives of the people through the execution of people-oriented development projects, Aliyu vowed not to bribe anyone to step down for another person either during the local government election primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party or the 2015 general election primaries for the selection of candidates to fly the flag of the party.
Earlier, the Emir of Borgu had appreciated the governor for being the first governor in the history of the Emirate to embark on a three-day inspection visit of projects embarked upon by the administration in the area.
The Emir, whose speech was read by the Shettima Borgu, Alhaji Ahmed Garaffin, also expressed gratitude to the governor for directing the Ministry of Works to carry out repairs on damaged parts of New Bussa to Babana town.
Zuni pledged the support of the group to the state and federal governments.
