The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, and members of his family on Tuesday performed the final burial of the remains of his step mother, Ugoeze Theresa Madumere, aged 71.
Prince Madumere, who delivered the funeral oration on Ugoeze Madumere, eulogized her as a faithful wife and a great mother who played very important roles in their upbringing.
In an emotional laden oration, Prince Madumere revealed that late Theresa Madumere was his number confidant he shared his dreams and aspirations with.
He added that she kept all his little secrets as a young boy even while planning his travel to the United States of America.
Speaking further, he described mama as a woman of peace and a great leader who lived up to expectation in every leadership role she played while alive, especially her commitment and devotion in God’s work and service to humanity.
He submitted that Mama Theresa will be sorely missed by every member of the Madumere Royal Family.
He thanked those who came to be with the family at their mourning moment and was quick to reveal that he appreciate even more since he never invited anyone, adding that because of what she meant to the family, they decided to solemnly handle the funeral rites in accordance with her simple and peaceful lifestyle.
In his condolence message, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, described the news as sad but however urged the family to be consoled by the fact that she lived a fulfilled and God fearing life and will be remembered for her love for peace and selflessness.
For the wife of the Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, she described late Ugoeze Theresa’s death as shocking.
She however prayed God to console the family and for God to grant them grace to overcome the vacuum created by her demise.
Consoling Prince Madumere and members of the family, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, described late Mama Theresa as a great woman who played her part when alive.
Nwosu added that having being a devout Christian who helped in nurturing successful children like the Deputy Governor and his siblings, prayed for the repose of her soul.
Joining in commiserating with the family, Hon. Uche Oguwike, member of the Imo State House of Assembly representing Ikeduru State constituency, described the late Ugoeze Theresa Madumere as a woman with compassionate heart who lived an impactful life through service and demonstration of love to humanity.
Oguwike urged the family to take solace in the hope of resurrection.
Also speaking during the funeral, Dr. Edward Ihejirika praised late Theresa Madumere for her great feats having done the best he could as a mother. especially to the children.
He also prayed God to accept her soul.
Among others who came to be with the Deputy Governor were the Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo; Hon. Lugard Osuji, the Majority Leader, Imo State House of Assembly; Hon. Ifeanyi Nnataraonye, member, Imo State House of Assembly representing Mbaitoli State Constituency; and his Owerri West counterpart, Hon. Victor Onyewuchi.
Traditional leaders from across the State, led by the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, Imo State, Eze Sam Ohiri, among numerous others was also present.
