Ijaw youths remember late Isaac Boro

Business activities in Yenagoa Bayelsa Capital were on Wednesday grounded, as Ijaw Youths Council  celebrated the 50th remembrance day of late Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, an activist and Nigeria civil war hero.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that most shops and major businesses were closed in Yenagoa and Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, the home town of the late activist.
The President of IYC, Central zone, Tari Porri, led the youths on street procession, said the celebration, tagged: “Posthumous golden jubilee celebration” was in honour of the late activist.
Porri, in his interview with journalists called on the multinational oil companies to relocate their headquarters to Niger Delta region where the oil is being extracted.
He urged the Federal government to always pay the stipends for the repentant militants in the amnesty programme and create more jobs for Ijaw youths to ensure peace in the region.
Also, the Bayelsa Government tasked Ijaw leaders to emulate the ideals of the late Ijaw Freedom icon, Major Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, described the late Boro as a hero who lived a selfless life and died in the pursuit of emancipation of the oppressed Niger Delta region.
