IAAF makes small switch to Olympics timetable

There has been a change to the athletics timetable for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
This followed approval by the International Association of Athletics Federations Council.
The IAAF, in a report on its website, said the change has been accepted by the International Olympic Committee and the Rio Games’ Local Organising Committee.
The Games is scheduled for August 5 to 21 in Rio, Brazil, with the athletics sport as the showpiece event.
The African News Agency reports that an updated timetable has been published on the IAAF website.
The change involves a minor swap between the women’s 200m and 400m hurdles on August 15.
The first round of the women’s 200m, which was formerly in the evening, has now moved to the morning.
The first round of the women’s 400m hurdles, which was formerly in the morning, has also now moved to the evening.
This change to the timetable makes it more feasible for women to compete in both the 200m and 400m at the Games.
