The Adamawa State Government has constituted an administrative panel of inquiry to look into the cause of the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, made the disclosure on Monday in Yola, while addressing newsmen at the end of emergency security meeting at the Government House.
Sajoh said the panel would investigate the remote and immediate cause of the clashes.
Other terms of reference are: ascertain the level of damage to lives and properties, proffer lasting solution to the clashes and recommend remedial and secondary measures on any person or institution involved.
Sajoh said the panel, which has three weeks to submit its report, has Justice Nathan Musa as Chairman, while Bashir Hamidu would serve as the Secretary.
Other members are: Adamawa State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Mike Moses; the Chairman of the Muslim Council, Mallam Abubakar Magaji; the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders, Jawoji Isa; and the President, Pene Da Bwatiye Cultural Association, Hezron Fada.
Pius Raymond, who represented farmers association, and Mallam Abdullahi Umaru, who stood in for herdsmen at the meeting, both pledged their resolve to embrace dialogue and peaceful co-existence.
