A 32-year-old security guard with Union Bank, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba branch, was found dead in the premises of the bank at the weekend.
The cause of death is yet unknown.
A source at Lagos University Teaching Hospital said that the corpse was found in the bank’s premises at about 5.10am
The source, who also identified the deceased as Ovate Erim, said that until his death, the deceased was one of the security men posted to Union Bank, LUTH branch.
The source said: “It was one of his colleagues that raised the alarm that attracted others.
“He was rushed to the emergency unit of the hospital.
“However, he was confirmed dead on arrival by the hospital authority.
“Since none of the management staff of the bank was around as at the time his body was found, other security men on ground requested that the body be deposited at the morgue pending when investigations to determine the actual cause of death is conducted.”
The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident in a situation report she issued.
Braide said: “At about 5.10am, one Ovate Erim, aged 32 years old, a security guard attached to Union Bank LUTH Branch was allegedly found motionless in the Bank’s premises. The victim was rushed to LUTH where he was confirmed dead.
“The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy. The case is under investigation at Itire Division.”
