Gov. Ishaku signs N100.8b 2016 Appropriation Bill

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State on Wednesday signed the adjusted Appropriation Bill of N100.8 billion of the state for 2016.
The governor had in December 2015 presented a budget of N68.8 billion to the House of Assembly.
But Ishaku told newsmen in Jalingo after signing the bill that the figure was increased to include anticipated revenue.
He said: “To avoid uncertainties, we initially decided not to include our anticipated revenue in the budget.
“However, we were advised by the House of Assembly to include the anticipated revenue because budgeting is an estimate of anticipated income.
“If we don’t do that, we may have to later present the anticipated revenue in a supplementary budget.”
The governor disclosed that 530 ghost workers were discovered in the ongoing workers verification as part of efforts to block revenue leakages.
Ishaku solicited support from the Nigerian Labour Congress in identifying the perpetrators of the ghost workers syndrome for to prosecution.
