Jules Kabore, the Burkinabe opponent of Nigeria’s Isaac “Grenade” Ekpo at the fourth edition of the GOtv Boxing Night, has dismissed as empty Ekpo’s threat to knock him out in the fourth of their 10-round international Super Middleweight challenge bout.
Kabore, who has an impressive knockout record, said he is coming to Nigeria to defeat Ekpo.
The claim of the Nigerian that he cannot be defeated in his country, Kabore said, is one that he will rubbish.
He said: “I won four of my seven fights via TKO.
“I am undefeated since turning pro.
“I am taller and better than Ekpo.
“Tell him that.
“He will fall.
“That is not a subject for debate.”
The event, which holds at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium Lagos on October 25, will feature five other fights.
In the featherweight category, Waidi “Skoro” Usman will slug it out with Taofik “Taozon” Bisuga.
Skoro, the West African featherweight champion, claims to have the best trainer in the country.
He said he will ensure that Taozon retires from boxing.
Also on the card are six-round duels, which will see Jamiu “Naval Man” Olabode take on Pelumi “Haggler” Sodubi in a Welterweight challenge, while Stanley “Edo Boy” Eribo will duel with Isiaka “Easy Lion” Yusuf.
In the Lightweight category, Prince Nurudeen Fatai, the national champion, will fight Otto “Joe Boy” Joseph.
Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, who won the best boxer award and N1 million cash prize at the last edition of the tournament, will take on Saheed “Happy Boy” Olayiwola in a light welterweight challenge bout.
The event, which starts at 4pm, will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
Sponsored by pay-TV company, GOtv, the tournament, which started last November, also held in March and July.
