Abolaji “Afonja Warrior” Rasheed, the West African Boxing Union middleweight champion, has branded his next opponent, Sunny “King Hammer,” a kid boxer.
Afonja was responding to Hammer’s claim that he will punish him when they clash for the national middleweight title at GOtv Boxing Night 8, holding on July 30 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
Speaking on a Galaxy Television programme, Sports Edge, on Thursday, Afonja described his opponent as a boastful boxer, who will crumble when faced with a boxer of his own quality.
“I read what he said in the newspapers. He boasted that he has successfully defended his title five times, but I want to tell him that he will fail this time. He is a kid boxer and I will beat him like he is one,” he said.
The Kwara State-born boxer also said he will win the N1 million cash prize for the best boxer of the night because he has been training hard and ready to give his best.
GOtv Boxing Night 8, an edition dedicated to the memory of the legendary Muhammed Ali, will feature five other fights in different weight divisions.
National light welterweight champion, Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, will slug it out with Joseph “Blacky Joe” Adeniji in a challenge contest.
