FRSC tasks MDAs on road safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Niger State on Tuesday said it has commenced sensitization on road safety matters for Ministries Departments and Agencies so as to ensure that drivers and other road users adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
In an interview with journalists in Minna, the Public Educator of the corps in the state, Bitus Simon, disclosed that the ongoing exercise is aimed at reducing Road Traffic Crashes on the roads across the state.
Simon said: “We are sensitizing MDAs and other road users in the state to obey traffic rules and regulations in order to reduce RTC.
“The exercise is focussing on services rendered by the corps such as new number plate, driver’s licence, causes and effects of RTC, road traffic offences.
“The policy on fleet operators and driving schools, qualities of a good driver, defensive driving and the need to know FRSC emergency line, 122.”
Simon added that the state ministries covered so far included Justice, Environment and Finance.
The road marshal also said the programme has covered WAEC Zonal office, JAMB office and the Industrial Training Fund Area office in the state.
“The exercise commenced in November 2013 with all the permanent secretaries and the state Head of Service, it would continue till all the MDAs are covered,” he added.
