Four killed, several injured in Lagos cult clash

Three killed, several injured as cultists storm Mushin
Tension is high in the Mushin area of Lagos State following the killing of three people.
Several others were said to have been injured.
The death and the injury were said to have been caused and inflicted by suspected cult members.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the latest mayhem was connected to the ongoing battle between some youths in the area.
The assailants, who were said to have come from Ereko Street, Fadeyi, were over 20 in number.
The youths were said to have started this latest battle on Thursday, but it spilled over to Friday.
The attack took place at a baby christening organised by a Keke NAPEP chairman in the area,
The chairman was simply identified as Gaddafi.
Another eyewitness recounted that Gaddafi was having his baby christening at Alhaji Ota Street at about 9pm, when residents started hearing sporadic gunshots.
An eyewitness said: “We saw four youths.
“We identified two of them as Lanre and Monsuru 50 cent.
“They had pump action rifles and started shooting at us.
“One of our friends, Kazeem, was shot in the private part while another guy was shot in the head.
“We all scampered for safety.
“We only came out after the shooting stopped.”
Two hours later, the youths reportedly came back, shooting in Rambo style mivoes.
This time, they were said to have killed two persons, while several were injured.
It was gathered that around 12:30pm, some youths in a red Toyota Camry, started shooting around Alhaji Ota Bus Stop, along Agege Motor Road, hitting another set of people.
An eyewitness said: “As people were running to avoid being hit, about four other guys from nowhere brought out AK-47 rifles and started shooting at those running away.
“One bus conductor, who was standing nearby, was pinned to the ground and shot repeatedly until he died.”
By the time police stormed the scene, the shooters had fled.
The eyewitness added: “The police area ‘D’ commander rushed five victims to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, where he deposited about N120,000 for the treatment of the victims.”
The guardian of one of the victims, who surivied, Matthew Idowu, explained that his ward, Idowu, was shot over 12 times.
He said: “My nephew Idowu is a bus driver.
“He lost his mother last month.
“He just finished a surgical operation and seven bullets had been extracted from his body, including his head.”
A worried landlord in the area said: “We are calling on the Commissioner of Police to return the armoured tanks, which were stationed here before.
“These hoodlums are the same ones that were disturbing us last year.
“They are Lanre Pumping, Monsuru 50 Cent, Baba Obo, Mufu Magnet and others.
“We want the police to go after them.
“They are in Ereko, Fadeyi.
“Let the police go after them if they want to do their work diligently.”
