An evening inferno on Saturday razed a six-storey building known as Euro-Asia Plaza, located around Saint Paul Anglican Church, Broad Street, Lagos.
It was gathered that the fire, which raged uncontrollably initially, started on the third floor at about 4pm and lasted till 8pm before fire fighters succeeded in putting it out.
Before the fire fighters arrived, sympathisers used buckets of water to attempt stopping the fire from spreading.
This they did through an adjacent building called Ajao Plaza.
Nobody could say what caused the fire but several property, worth millions of naira, were destroyed in the four-hour inferno, which made the top three storey floors to collapse.
It could not be ascertained also at press time if anybody died as the occupants were seen in a state of shock and utter confusion, running to remove their valuables.
Occupants of nearby buildings and shop owners were also seen removing valuables for fear that the fire may spread.
